Nancy Cladel, President, is one of the original incorporators of The Manada Conservancy, and served as Vice-President through 2007. Nancy is a Research Support Associate in the Jake Gittlen Cancer Institute at the MS Hershey Medical Center. She served on the East Hanover Township Environmental Advisory Council for 11 years as a member and 1 year as chair. She is an enthusiastic bird-watcher and has interests in natural history, biodiversity, native plants and farmland preservation. She lives with her husband, Chuck, in an historic home in East Hanover Township. They have two grown children and are enjoying granddaughter Eloisa. Nancy developed and continues to oversee our annual native plant sale, serves on the Fund-raising Committee and on our Preservation Committee. Nancy and Chuck Cladel are Manada Conservancy Partners in Preservation.
Rich Zaino, Vice President is one of the original incorporators of the Conservancy and has been a Board member since its inception. He is Professor of Pathology at the MS Hershey Medical Center, is a medical author and editor, and is active in a number of medical societies. He graduated from Holy Cross College in 1971 and Duke Medical School in 1975. He has been active in the Audubon Society, and his interests include bird-watching, natural history, hiking, archeology and photography. Rich lives in East Hanover Township with his wife, Sally. They have three grown daughters. Rich serves on the Preservation Committee. Many of Rich’s photographs grace our publications and outreach materials.
Tracy Devenyi, Secretary, joined the board of TMC in 2010. She is a graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a degree in Psychology. She and her husband, Attila, live in Derry Township and have been married for 27 years. They have 3 children, Ryan, Lindsey, and Dylan. Tracy has been a "stay-at-home mom" for 24 years during which time she has volunteered for various organizations including the Salvation Army, the Manada Conservancy, the Hershey Museum, and most recently, the Derry Environmental Action Committee. Her interests include native plant gardening, cooking, biking, and reading. Tracy chairs our Education Committee and serves on our Preservation and Outreach Committees.
Richard Williams, Treasurer, joined the Board in 2005. He is retired from the Central Dauphin School District where he taught senior high Social Studies for thirty years. During much of that time he also coached Cross Country and Track and Field at C.D. East Senior High and served as advisor/representative to various student and faculty organizations. After retiring in 1998 he became involved with Hershey Gardens and held the position of Coordinator of the Butterfly House through the 2003 season. He has been the compiler for PA Society for Ornithology's “Pennsylvania Birds” for Dauphin Co. since 1992 and for Snyder Co. since 2003. His other leisure activities include wood carving, gardening, and travel. Dick Chairs our Finance Committee and serves on the Education Committee.
Greg Burgdorf has been a Board Member of TMC since 2003. Greg is a professional geologist, and is a Senior Hydrogeologist / Project Manager with URS Corporation in Harrisburg. He is a graduate of Miami University and received his Masters Degree at Wright State University in Ohio. He is a Committee member of Boy Scout Troop 66. He is a former member of the East Hanover Environmental Advisory Council and is active in the Canoe Club of Harrisburg. Greg’s interests include bird-watching, canoeing, hiking, and church activities. He and his wife Paulina have three children and live in South Hanover Township. Greg serves on the Preservation Committee and is the land steward for our Clawson-VanDeHei Preserve on the Swatara Creek.
Chuck Cladel is a founding Board member. He is a staff psychiatrist at the Holy Spirit Hospital and also maintains a private pediatric psychiatric practice. Chuck is a graduate of the Univ. of Rochester and State University of New York Upstate Medical Center at Syracuse, and did his specialty training at Indiana Univ. Medical Center and The Univ. of Michigan Medical Center, as well as serving in the USAF in Alaska. He lives with wife, Nancy, in an historic home in East Hanover Township. They have two grown children and are enjoying granddaughter Eloisa. Chuck’s interests include photography, computers, and land preservation. Chuck serves on the Preservation Committee and assists in the study, monitoring and stewardship of all of our preserved properties, as well as providing photographs of many of our events. Chuck and Nancy Cladel are Manada Conservancy Partners in Preservation.
John Conner is one of the original 1996 incorporators of The Manada Conservancy, and served as The Manada Conservancy President since its inception through 2007. John is a Board Member and Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Land Trust Association. He is a former member of the East Hanover Environmental Advisory Council and was active in efforts to update the zoning there. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975 and is retired from the Internal Revenue Service where he was employed for 35 years. Along with land preservation, John’s interests include working with other non-profit organizations, organic gardening and his golden retrievers. John serves on the Preservation Committee and chairs our Administration Committee.
Suzanne Donovan is one of the original incorporators of The Manada Conservancy, using her last year's compensation as East Hanover Township Supervisor to provide seed money to start the Conservancy. In addition to serving as a Township Supervisor, she served on the East Hanover Township Planning Commission. Suzanne graduated from Bucknell University. Her interests include oil painting, flower gardening, chicken husbandry, historic and farmland preservation. She lives in East Hanover Township with her husband Jeff. They have four children, Luke, Molly, Jean, and Michael. She served as Treasurer until 2000, as Secretary from 2004 to 2010, and currently serves on the Preservation and Fund-raising Committees.
James Egenrieder joined the Board in 2010. Jim is retired from Amp Incorporated where he held positions in systems engineering and management. Following his retirement, he worked for Goods Tree Care, Inc. and also as an independent contractor for the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) as an auditor and consultant. As a consultant, he provided guidance to companies seeking TCIA accreditation in the areas of ethics, quality, and consumer confidence. As an auditor, he visited companies to review, rate, and document their adherence to seventy-five standards in the accreditation areas. Jim has been active in coaching several youth sports and serving on many community, county, and township boards, including the West Hanover Township Board of Supervisors. Jim's current volunteer activities include Penn State Master Gardener, Treasurer of the PA Chapter of The American
Chestnut Foundation, and member of the Conservancy's Finance and Preservation Committees.
Jennifer Hine is a graduate of Kutztown University with a B.S. in Environmental Science/Biology and dual minor in Geography and Psychology. Jennifer began at The Manada Conservancy as a summer Preservation Intern in 2008 after which she served as the Administrative Assistant until February 2010. She is employed as a drinking water chemist at ALS Laboratory Group in Middletown. Along with conservation, Jennifer’s interests include hiking, trips to the beach, and spending time with her German shepherd puppy. She serves on the Conservancy’s Preservation and Outreach Committees and is our newsletter editor.
Lindsay Johnson is a 2005 Graduate of Messiah College with a BS in Environmental Science, and has worked in Microbiology, retail stores, and as an Environmental Technician, where she completed Environmental Inspections for real estate transactions, including mapping and soil samplings. She lives in New Bloomfield, PA, and currently works as a teller at Wells Fargo Bank in Harrisburg. She has interned with The Nature Conservancy, performing assessments of Vernal Pools in the South Mountain area with herpetological and botanical identifications, and has worked with GIS mapping. Lindsay serves on the Outreach, Finance and Fund-raising Committees. She joined the Board in 2011.
Bob (Robert L.) Jones is currently a member of the Hummelstown Borough Council and is a past President of both the Council and the Lower Dauphin School Board. He is and has been a member of many community boards, environmental groups and foundations over the years. Dr. Jones is a medical scientist and educator and is a retired Professor from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine where he continues to teach 1st and 2nd year medical students. He has been a successful coach of soccer, track, swimming and basketball teams. He completed Officers Training in the U.S. Marine Corps and received an Officers Commission in The U.S. Navy Reserve. Robert and his wife Nancy live in Hummelstown. They have two daughters and four grandchildren. Bob serves on the Education and Preservation Committees.
Vic Rohrer is a founding member of the Conservancy and has been a Board member since its inception. He is a retired physician and was a staff and faculty member at the M. S. Hershey Medical Center for 27 years where he served as Chief of the Medical Staff and Associate Dean for Clinical affairs from 1982 to 1993. He is a past member of the East Hanover Township, Lebanon County, Planning Commission, and was the Lebanon County Landowner Conservationist of the Year in 1999. Vic is a member of the PA Forest Stewardship Program and a member of the Dauphin Co. Woodland Owners Association. He and his wife, Jean, live in Conewago Township. They have four grown children. Vic serves on the Preservation Committee, and assists in baseline and monitoring for our preserved properties. Vic and Jean Rohrer are Manada Conservancy Partners in Preservation.
Sally Zaino, Executive Director, is one of the original incorporators and Board members of The Manada Conservancy and served as Secretary from its inception until 2004. She chaired the East Hanover Township Environmental Advisory Council for 10 years, is a former East Hanover Township Supervisor and Planning Commission member, and serves on the Board of the Horse-Shoe Trail Conservancy and the Capital Resource Conservation and Development Council. She also works at home as a part-time writer and editor. Sally graduated from Duke University in 1974. Her interests include land use planning, biodiversity, wildlife habitat protection and poetry. She lives in East Hanover Township with her husband, Rich. They have three grown daughters. Sally chairs the Preservation and Fund-raising Committees and directs the operations of the organization.
Richelle Dourte, Administrative Assistant, joined the Manada team in 2010 after leaving a corporate environmental scientist position in order to respond to a calling in conservation. Richelle also runs a small business as a jewelry artist. She is a graduate of Messiah College with a degree in Environmental Science, and a Certified Naturalist through Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies. She and her husband Josh enjoy gardening, raising chickens and furniture restoration. Her other interests include walks in the woods, herping, local food, and metalworking. She assists with volunteer coordination, baseline studies, monitoring and management planning and serves as the GIS Analyst and chair of the Outreach Committee.
