This 73-acre woodland was permanently protected with a conservation easement in partnership with the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation (WBWF) through Fort Indiantown Gap’s Army Compatible Use Buffer program (ACUB). It includes a portion of South Fork Powells Creek and lies within both the Powells Creek and Clarks Creek watersheds, which empty into the Susquehanna River. The conservation easement protects the forested riparian area and designates the entirety of the property as Highest Protection Area, restricted from future subdivision and development.
This land is another piece in the puzzle of permanently protecting the larger Kittatinny Ridge Conservation Landscape. It borders Capital Region Water’s land surrounding the DeHart Dam which is also protected with a conservation easement held by The Nature Conservancy, thanks to the ACUB program and WBWF.
