An Acre of Timberland in Jefferson Township
Sometimes a small parcel is a big addition
We often get the question, “Is my property too small to have conservation value?” Here’s an example of why the answer is sometimes no.
Don and Jennifer Smith became Partners in Preservation when they donated an easement on their one-acre parcel of woods in 2012. Not only does this lovely forest parcel have a significant stream running through it and provide protected frontage on White Oak Road, it is adjacent to and extends two major Conservancy protected areas: Koerber Woodland and Small Valley Camp. Within this acre stands mature forest and healthy native Pennsylvania vegetation. Don has documented bobcats, porcupines, and numerous other mammals in and around his property. It is proof that good things can indeed come in small packages.
